JIMS documentation can be found at http://savannah.fzk.de/projects/jims.

1.2. What is JIMS?

JIMS (JMX-based Infrastructure Monitoring System) is a JMX-based system for cluster infrastructure monitoring. JMX stands for Java Management Extensions and is a key platform the JIMS is built on.

JIMS allows monitoring of following elements of infrastructure:

  1. computational nodes parameters (CPU, memory, processes),
  2. network interfaces (packets sent in different protocols, bytes sent per second),
  3. hard disks,
  4. elements specific to particular hardware and software platforms (Solaris 10 containers, Linux kernel 2.4 and 2.6 parameters).
